January 1998
Caledonian Ale House
Edinburgh |
Our second
meeting was held in January 1998, again in Edinburgh, and was attended by
thirty three brewers. There would have been more but for deep snow north
of Perth. All CBA members were invited, either directly or through Brewers
Digest on the internet, and we were pleased to see several new faces. Two
would have come from as far away as Aberdeen but for the weather, which
makes me think we are fullfilling a need. We were delighted to welcome
Clive and Janet Donald from Brupaks who have done so much to improve the lot
of craft brewers. Clive and Janet were with us all day and took part in all
the sessions. Clive led two sessions on aspects of brewing, and on new
developments and products, as well as taking part in our open forum. The
event lasted from 10.30 a.m. until after 4.0 p.m.
and could well have gone on longer. A great day in all respects, including
the tasting, but not least the opportunity to talk to fellow brewers, which
left us all looking forward to the Spring meeting.
